A scenic 90 minute scenic drive from Christchurch you will find the only French town in New Zealand, Akaroa with its stunning harbour, historic buildings, a passion for great food and a marine environment teaming with wildlife.

Akaroa Harbour is host to an amazing variety of ocean dwelling sea mammals and bird life, including the world’s rarest and smallest dolphin, the friendly Hector’s dolphin, which you will typically experience on our daily cruises. You will also see fur seals sunbathing on the rocks, little blue penguins, marine salmon, mussel and paua pearl farms, along with a variety of fascinating sea birds including four species of cormorant, black-backed gulls, red-billed gulls, shearwaters, terns, prions, mollymawks, petrels, skuas, oystercatchers, albatross and more.

A comprehensive commentary on geology, history, ecology and Maori traditions is included. Binoculars and reference books are also available on board and the rear viewing platform is close to sea level ensuring you can get very close to the playful dolphins and from where you can feed the salmon.
