Banks Peninsula Crater Rim Walk Information:
The highest point on Banks Peninsula is almost 1,000 meters however the Crater Rim is lower than this and the views are just as spectacular. Looking to the west the views take in Christchurch City, the beautiful Pegasus Bay stretching north, with the majestic Southern Alps beyond. The eastern vistas include the serene Lyttelton harbour which nestles inside the Volcano Crater, and the wide open expanses of the wild Pacific Ocean and its rugged coastline.

Half Day Guided Crater Rim Walk
Price: $235:oo per person
Departure: 8:00 am and 01:00 pm
Trip Duration: 4 Hours (1.5 to 2 hours walk time.)

Enjoy a fabulous walk with breath-taking scenery and be back in Christchurch City for the afternoon. Our local guides will have every base covered and ensure this excursion is a trip highlight.
You will be picked up from you inner city accommodation by your guide in a 12 seater van. On the 30 minute drive to Sumner/Lyttelton where your walk will commence, you will be entertained with the history of Christchurch, including personal experiences from your guide.
During your walk there will be plenty of photo opportunities, and a chance to hear all about the history of the area.
There will be a 15 minute break at a picturesque location along the way, where a light morning tea snack is provided.
You will visit the Crater Rim surrounding the caldera of the ancient volcano. Take in amazing views of the rugged Pacific coastline stretching across Pegasus Bay to the often snow covered Southern Alps, Lyttelton Harbour and wide expanses of the Pacific Ocean.

You will be picked up from your accommodation by your guide in a private SUV, and entertained with the history of Christchurch on the 30-minute drive out to Sumner/Lyttelton where your walk will commence.
Hot drinks are provided at a local café before setting off along the coastal track.
Visit the Crater Rim surrounding the caldera of the ancient volcano.
Visit the newly restored WWII coastal defense battery, Scotts Hutt, and take in amazing views of the rugged Pacific coastline stretching across Pegasus Bay to the often snow-covered Southern Alps, Lyttelton harbour and wide expanses of the Pacific Ocean.
Total walking time is approximately 2.5 hours before returning to Christchurch City.

QUEEN VICTORIA
Travel with your guide to Victoria Park, a weekend playground for the locals. Your guide will lead you through a myriad of forest tracks, bringing you out on the crater rim with outstanding views back over Christchurch City, and also back towards Diamond Harbour. Have coffee at a heritage spot before returning to Christchurch City.
DISTANCE: This walk covers 12km, a moderately challenging climb.
PATH OF THE GODS
Enjoy a guided walking experience on an undulating coastal track with breathtaking views. Look back over the water towards Christchurch City, the beautiful Pegasus Bay stretching north, and the majestic Southern Alps beyond. SUMNER STUNNER
Travel with your guide to the beach suburb of Sumner, where you will climb up and around the hillside tracks of this picturesque spot. Find yourself inside the crater rim, and look out on the beautiful coastline of Canterbury stretching towards Pegasus and beyond. Views from this vantage point are quite different from our other walks, and you may choose to stay on and shop or dine in this great location before returning to Christchurch City.
DISTANCE: This walk covers 12km, a moderately challenging climb.
LYTTELTON ENCHANTMENT
Enjoy a guided walking experience above and around the picturesque port town of Lyttelton. Climb the crater rim and enjoy vistas down on the harbour and beyond to Diamond Harbour. This walk has some good climbs, and interesting historical sites to visit along the way. Your guide will fill you in on the history of this lovely area.
DISTANCE: This walk covers 10km, a moderately challenging climb.
