At 9.15 am, your tour guide will meet you at the Waitangi Wharf before you embark on your half-day excursion. The Kawiti glow worm caverns are around a thirty-minute drive from the Waitangi Wharf. You will be able to experience the enchantment of glowworms. Then, you will proceed to Kawakawa. This small community is also known as a “train town.”
You will arrive at the Puketi Forest at about 11:45 am. This 15,000-hectare forest features spectacular Kauri stands and an abundance of ecological diversity.
Around 12.30 pm, we stop at a charming cafe/bakery where you can purchase a selection of lunch options.
Kerikeri’s Makana Chocolate Factory is the next stop a boutique chocolate factory where you can observe the chocolate-making process, try a few samples, and, of course, purchase delectable goodies.
You can also visit the Kauri Workshop next door, which sells handicrafts and collectibles. Then, you will see the renowned horseshoe waterfalls of Haruru Falls. Located in a secret valley on the lovely and tranquil Waitangi River.
The day’s final destination is the Waitangi lookout Loop is your last opportunity to take in the breathtaking views of Waitangi and the Bay of Islands before being transported back to the wharf or Paihia if you wish to wander.
