Why not check out the Great Lake Trail, part of the New Zealand Cycle Trail network developed through a partnership involving Bike Taupo, the Taupo District Council, the Department of Conservation and the New Zealand Cycle Trails. If you do not wish to go as far afield, the Rotary Ride is leaving Taupo Township, or the Lions walk, which is family-friendly even for the littlies.

Try this stunning easy bike ride along the Lions walk. This trip has been designed for those who wish to meander and cruise along the lake front, taking in the beautiful scenery that Lake Taupo has to offer. You will meet at our Acacia Bay where we will load your bikes.
From here we will take you as far down the Lions Walk (towards Wharewaka point) as you are wishing to ride. From there you ride back towards town to meet your kayak guide at the Taupo Yacht Club car park, who will then load your bike on the trailer and then equip you for your kayak leg of your journey. You will then enjoy an easy paddle back to our base at Acacia Bay.
This is riding at its most basic level and is an ideal opportunity for a family to experience Lake Taupo together.

Our Maori Carvings Explorer package is without a doubt the best way to experience the spectacular scenery from the Great Lake Trail, and see the amazing Maori Rock Carvings at Mine Bay by water.
In one day, you will enjoy a leisurely 2-2.5 hour mountain-bike ride, and 4 hours kayaking on the crystal clear waters of Lake Taupo.
You will meet us at our base in Acacia Bay, where we will load your bike then set off by road to Kinloch, to ride W2K (Kinloch to Whakaipo Bay) section of the Great Lake Trail. It here at Whakaipo Bay where you gourmet lunch will await you, either on the shores of the lake or amongst the rustic land.
After lunch your guide will equip you, so we can set off on our kayaking leg. We will pass the historic Maori rock carvings at Mine Bay, be captivated by these striking carvings as your experienced guide will explain the carving’s cultural significance to the lake and surrounding areas while you float beneath them.

Mason’s Rock Explorer Package is without a doubt the best way to experience the spectacular scenery from the Great New Zealand Cycle Trail, and see the Mason’s Rock – which resembles a fantails tail by water.
In one day, you will enjoy a leisurely 2.5 – 3 hour mountain-bike ride, and a 2.5 – 3 hours kayaking on the crystal clear waters of Lake Taupo.
You will meet us at our base in Acacia Bay, where we will load your bike then set off by road to Whangamata road car park, to ride Orakau and K2K (kawakawa Bay to Kinloch) section of the Great Lake Trail.
During the ride you will stop of at Kawakawa Bay for a break – Sit on the nice fine stoney beach, enjoy the crystal clear waters, listen to the breeze in the Kawakawa trees along with the Tui birds, Tomtits, Fantails, and other native birds. Look out over our beautiful lake and ponder how it all came to be. You may even see a rocker climber scaling the cliffs. Before you set of to Kinloch.
