Hike one of the best one day walks in the world and take the hassle out of getting there by using our Tongariro Alpine Crossing Summer Return Shuttle.
All shuttles depart from our booking centre in National Park Village where you can securely park your vehicle for FREE.
You’ll start your day by being dropped off to the start of the trail at Mangatepopo car park where you will be given easy to understand information about the track and what to expect during the day.
Once you finish, you can get on any of our pre-scheduled return shuttles at Ketetahi car park which leave at 1:30pm, 3pm, 4:30pm or 6pm and brings you back to our booking centre where your vehicle is parked.

This combo package makes the most of your visit to the Tongariro World Heritage National Park by experiencing two of the best activities the region has to offer.
DAY ONE – You will be hiking one of the world’s best one-day walks. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is a 19.4km hike and crosses spectacular volcanic terrain.
Among its highlights are steaming vents, old lava flows, beautiful water-filled explosion craters and stunning views.
On clear days you can see Mount Taranaki in the west, Mount Ngauruhoe, the Kaimanawa Ranges, Lake Taupo and beyond.
My Kiwi Adventures return shuttle service allows you to securely park your car at our booking centre in National Park Village and drops you off at the start of the trail and picks you up at the end of the trail. Departs daily at 5:45am, 7:00am or 8.15am.
DAY TWO – The opportunity mountain bike the famous 15km Ohakune Old Coach Road which is ranked as one of New Zealand’s most scenic cycle trails. As part of the package, you will be supplied with a quality mountain bike, helmet and transfers from our booking centre in National Park Village. Departs daily at 9.30am.
Due to the popularity of this package, bookings are essential.
Fishers Track is suitable for beginners to experienced cyclists wanting to test the limits of their speed.
Price: $ 45:oo per person (Normally $65 pp) $35 per person* for transport only option. Great for those with their own bike.
Departure: 9:30 am and 2:00 pm
Trip Duration: Please allow 2-3 hours to complete this trail.
Fishers Track is a 27km, grade 2 track with spectacular views over Tongariro National Park and the Retaruke Valley. This track is mostly downhill with over 600 metres of vertical decent to enjoy!
Includes bike rental, helmet, repair kit, pump, map and return transport back to our booking centre in National Park Village.
This trail starts from our booking centre located at 2 Findlay Street, National Park Village (attached to Schnapps Bar & Mini Golf) and after a short 3km uphill, then descends for over 10km giving you stunning views and quality downhill mountain biking.
The final 14km of this trail takes you past Retaruke Station and finishes on the Upper Retaruke Road and Oio Road intersection where toilets are available.
There is also an old monument at this intersection and this is where you will be picked up and returned back to our booking centre in National Park Village.
Experience our local favourite, the historical Ohakune Old Coach Road mountain bike ride from Horoptio to Ohakune. A 15km, grade 2 trail with stunning views, featuring the restored Hapuawhenua rail viaduct.
Price: $ 50:oo per person (Normally $65 pp) $35 per person* for transport only option. Great for those with their own bike.
Departure: 9:30 am
Trip Duration: Allow up to two and a half hours to complete the 15km ride from Horopito to Ohakune with much of it being downhill.
The Ohakune Old Coach Road is one of New Zealand’s premium trails giving cyclists a glimpse into the past of what life was like using horse and coach and the hardships involved in building railways in the region.
This trail is suitable for most weather conditions, thanks to its high quality construction and native forest canopy which offers good protection from wind and rain.
Between 1906 and 1908 the Ohakune Old Coach Road covered the only section of the Main Trunk Line that was not finished which meant passengers would have to disembark from the train to travel by horse and coach through the foothills of Ruapehu.
As a result, a whole support industry sprouted up around the Ohakune Old Coach Road to make sure everyone could be transported.

If getting away from the crowds and experiencing plenty of variety is what you’re after, the 42 Traverse is the trail for you.
Price: $ 95:oo per person $35 per person* for transport only option. Great for those with their own bike.
Departure: 7:00 am
Trip Duration: Please allow 4-6 hours to complete the 42 Traverse.
The 42 Traverse starts off State Highway 47 and crosses the Tongariro forest from East to West on the 42 degree South parallel with spectacular views of Mt Ruapehu, Mt Tongariro & Mt Ngauruhoe.
The trail finishes in Owhango village. Overall, the trail has a downhill bias with a vertical decent of 600 metres. There are also several stream crossing during the ride which offer plenty of variety to enjoy along the way.

Keen to try a local loop track that starts and finishes in National Park Village. Appropriate for the whole family, this loop trail follows a recovered bush tramway route for an approximate 2 hour ride.
Starting and finishing in National Park Village, you will bounce in and out of pine plantation as you travel alongside the North Island Main Trunk Railway Line.
Go back in time along this 19km, grade 2 trail which follows the old Marton Sash and Door Tramway.
With great views and plenty of historical and natural features from old dams, tram skid ways and the beautiful Waimarino Stream (Meaning ‘Calm Waters’) there’s plenty of variety on this trail.

Includes basic technique instruction, stand up paddle board rental, life jacket, wetsuit booties, photos and return transport to Lake Otamangakau from our booking centre located at 2 Findlay Street, National Park Village (attached to Schnapps Bar & Mini Golf). Plus one of our guides will be on the water with you at all times.
Remember to bring shorts or togs, a towel, sunscreen, hat, some snacks and we’ll take care of the rest. Our stand up paddle boards are suited for beginners which means the chances of falling in the lake are pretty low. (No guarantee of course!)
