For the best fun you can have in two hours, try our Quad Bike Tours. You’re guaranteed to enjoy this quad bike adventure in a secluded valley just out of the township. Protective clothing and safety gear are supplied. 

Get away from it all and soak up the scenery on a Mountain Bike Tour. A range of bikes are available. Combine a mountain biking adventure with a trip to the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa with our Twin Passes Over-the-Top offer.

This has to be the most fun you can have on four wheels!  As you jump on a Honda Sport Quad Bike and explore the purpose-built track that meanders through meadows, across streams and through  bush on our 15,000 acre Woodbank Station a working farm, complete with sheep and cattle!. Hanmer Adventure Mountain Bike Hire & Tours

Grab a mountain bike and head for the hills! Explore the New Zealand High Country or the Hamner Forest Park up close on one of our mountain bike hire options. Hanmer Springs is a great place for mountain biking, with excellent tracks available for all levels of expertise and fitness.

MTB for Beginners
there’s no better way to experience the scenery of Hanmer than to bike off the beaten track than to jump on a bike and ride through Hanmer Forest. An easy ride for all levels of fitness and ability through 4 kms of forest tracks which links to other trails within the forest providing hours of mountain biking fun suitable for the whole family.

MTB Intermediate
If you’re after a little more physical exertion explore the trails around the back of Conical Hill. Tracks in this area include Flax Gallery, Swoop and Majuba, which can be linked together for a more comprehensive and heart-pumping ride. Or check out our Twin Passes over the top the ultimate ride.

All prices quoted are for standard bikes – full disc braked bikes are available for an extra $10.00 per person. 
All our bikes receive regular maintenance checks. You will be personally fitted with the right bike for your physique and purpose. Cycle helmets and trail maps are included in every hire.

Hanmer Adventure – Clay Bird Shooting

Boom Boom! – the clay bird flies – can you shoot it down? 

It’s harder than you think! Try to knock the clay bird out of the sky with the purpose-built under/over double-barreled shotgun. Clay birds are fired automatically from the machine, and you have two shots to try to hit each one. 

Set within the beautiful scenery around Hanmer Springs, our shooting range is the ideal spot for you to test your eye-hand co-ordination. You’ll be given full instruction on how to use your gun. 

Get a bunch of friends together and stage a competition. Who will be the winner in a clay bird “shootout”? 

 

Hanmer Adventure – Archery

Archery – A True Test of Skill 

1 hour at the range: $59.00 per person (ages 10 and up) 

Pull back the string, sight the target and release – relive the past as you sample this ancient sport at our purpose-built archery range in the heart of Hanmer Springs Village. 

Archery has a long history the world over. Tribesmen were hunting with bow and arrow at least 25,000 years ago, and still are today in remote areas. Many historians think the invention of the bow was as important as fire and the wheel. Although originally the bow and arrow seem to have been used for battle or for hunting, they have also been universally used for sports and tests of skill. 

Here in New Zealand (and worldwide) it’s a sophisticated sport that is increasing in popularity as modern technology introduces improvements to equipment. At Hanmer Springs Adventure Centre we use a variation of the composite recurve bow, very similar to those the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Persians and Chinese (among others) used in battle and for sporting contests.

Hanmer Adventure Centre – Hanmer Rockets

A fun filled pedalling experience for all ages!

Hanmer Rockets are entertaiment for all the family or groups to enjoy are the ‘Hanmer Rockets’. These are four-wheeled quadtricycles and fit between two to six people. These are a unique way to enjoy cycling around Hanmer Springs village. Great for exploring and team building.
