Our Water at Secret Spot
Our hot tubs are filled with fresh forest spring water that comes from a beautiful aquifer spring high in the forest.
This non-geothermal water is then treated to NZ Pool Water Quality Standards with our Enviroswim treatment system, meaning it has minimal chemicals and is friendly on both our bathers and the environment.
Water in each individual hot tub is continuously filtered and refreshed during your soak. It’s ‘your’ water only – the water does not flow from tub to tub.
What goes well with a hot tub soak after a big day’s adventure?

Our Base Camp street food kitchen is serving up delicious smash burgers, chicken satay roti, fries and more for you to enjoy beside a campfire or in a Shinny Dip foot hot tub.
Our Shinny Dips – a mini cedar hot tubs for your feet – overlook our lawn, native ferns, and Revolution Creek. They’re free with any drinks purchase and available on a first come, first serve basis.
Secret Spot's BaseCamp Venue
BaseCamp is a luxe safari tent venue located at Secret Spot Hot Tubs. Available for both group bookings and casual café customers, BaseCamp provides the perfect spot to sit, relax, and enjoy the forest views.
BaseCamp’s relaxed atmosphere is complete with two open firepits, a fully licensed cedarwood bar, deer antler chandeliers, and enchanting candle lighting.
BaseCamp seats 65 people indoors with a mix of couches, chairs, and picnic tables, with outdoor seating on the patio also available.
Catering options include tasty grazing platters and a wide variety of BBQ meals (including a traditional South African braai).
These delicious and versatile plates are ideal for any event, conference, or family get-together.
- Your Rotorua hot tub experience is 45-minutes long.
- Please arrive 15 minutes before your booking to allow time to order drinks and get changed.
- Hot tub hours are from 9am to 10pm every day (the last hot tub booking is at 9pm). Our 45-minute hot tub experience is bookable every 15 minutes.
- Please bring your own swimwear and towels or hire them from reception.
- Book up to 6 friends or family per hot tub. For larger bookings that need multiple hot tubs, please call us on 07 348 4442.
- Bookings can be rescheduled up to 4 hours prior to your reservation. Booking cancellation requires 12 hours’ notice.
- Secret Spot Hot Tubs is a smoke and vape free premises.
