Enjoy the natural beauty and adventure of New Zealand from the comfort of a rail-car. Our rail cars are completely self-driven, which means you have complete control over your rail vehicle and are free to stop wherever you want to take photographs (or pick up your hat).
Your journey begins in Awakeri, where you’ll travel at a leisurely 25 kilometres per hour with family and friends along a section of historic railway line that has been preserved. Along the way, there are four bridges, various cuts, and bush landscapes to enjoy.
Awakeri Rail Express Run

Duration: Two Hours
Tour Time: 8:00 am (Summer da light saving)
The express run is an early morning trip that is only available during the summer months for visitors who wish to take a rail trip earlier in the day to allow time for other local activities.
Our adventure begins in Awakeri, travelling at a leisurely 25 kilometres per hour along a section of historic railway line with family and friends. The express run makes two stops along the way, including a stop for hot coffee and tea in our bush café. The express run is approximately two hours long. Along the trail, there are four bridges, various cuts, and bush sceneries.

Tour Time: 10:30 am & 2:0 pm (daylight saving months)

You will be escorted on a bushwalk and will have the opportunity to unwind with a cup of hot coffee or tea at our trackside bush café.
