Explore the Hole in the Rock & Marine Wildlife

Set sail from Paihia or Russell and glide through the 144 islands of the Bay of Islands, passing along the Rakaumangamanga Peninsula towards Cape Brett. As we approach, you’ll see the historic lighthouse standing guard over Piercy Island (Motukakako), famously known as the Hole in the Rock.

💦 Māori legends say that warriors paddled through the Hole in the Rock before battle, and if water dripped on them from the cave roof, it was a sign of good luck!
