The best way to explore picturesque Stewart Island in style, is on our Eco-friendly electric bikes. You can travel at your own pace around our 30 km of roads, going to places you never would have explored before. Experience the amazing views of Paterson’s Inlet & Mount Rakeahua at Observation Rock, cycle to Lee Bay that marks the start of the Rakiura and North West circuit tracks and take a scenic walk out to Ackers Point, a great spot to view the local wildlife, such as seals, sooty shearwater and little blue penguins.
The terrain of the island is made easy by the assistance of an electric motor helping you bike around with ease and speed. Come see us at our depot at 4 Main road, just around the corner from the 4 Square.
Observation Rock
Observation Rock is an awesome spot to bike to. Only 5 minutes bike from our site at 4 Main Rd It offers amazing views of Paterson’s Inlet, Mount Rakeahua and much more. Just park your bike on the roadside and a short 2 minute walk leads you to the lookout.
Lee Bay
Lee Bay marks the start of the Rakiura and North West circuit tracks, it also has one of the pair of matching chain sculptures. One of which is in bluff and the other of which is here in Lee Bay. They are part of a Maori legend in which a warrior fishes up the north island from the south island, his boat, and to do so he drops his anchor, Stewart Island. Lee Bay is only about 20 minutes from the shop on our speedy bikes.
Ackers Point Lighthouse and Harold Bay
Take a scenic walk out to Ackers Point past Harrold Bay. This cottage at Harrold Bay is one of New Zealand’s oldest buildings. Then carry on around the coastal track to Ackers Point. The platform at the end offers extraordinary views back towards Halfmoon Bay as well as the surrounding area. Ackers point is also a great spot to view the local wildlife, such as seals, sooty shearwater and little blue penguins. The end of the road is only 15 minutes bike from our shop, from there it is a 5 minute walk to Harrold Bay, or approximately 40-50 minutes walk to Ackers Point. The walk is well marked and maintained by the Department of Conservation.

The Cadence is constructed of a slightly larger than standard alloy frame, with 26” wheels. It has front Hydraulic disk brakes and a rear shimano roller brake system. It has 7 gears on a rear nexus hub giving you any extra power needed for even the steepest hills. It is front wheel drive with a 250W eZee motor in the front wheel. These are limited to 28km/h speeds on the motor due to New Zealand regulations. We operate these bikes with both 15Ah and 19Ah batteries.
The Sprint is very similar to our Cadence model. It has a step through alloy frame. Making it ideal for those who might have trouble swinging a leg over a regular bike. It has 7 gears on a rear nexus hub giving you any extra power needed for even the steepest hills. It has front suspension and is also front wheel drive. Like the Cadence it has a 250W eZee motor in the front wheel. It has front hydraulic disk brakes and a rear shimano roller brake system. These are limited to 28km/h speeds on the motor due to New Zealand regulations. We operate these bikes with both 15Ah and 19Ah batteries
We have a bike buggy which connects to one of our electric bikes. It fits two toddlers with a maximum combined weight of 40kg. This makes for for great fun for the whole family. It is an additional $25 dollars and comes with an additional battery for the towing bike. For booking of the buggy add a note to the online booking or just give us a ring.
