A tour perfect for those who are seeking a combination of a rewarding hike with a relaxing treat at the end of it.
The day starts with a scenic drive along the Desert Road to the base of our walk. We will guide you on a rewarding hike that showcases the stunning scenery of New Zealand’s native forest and the Taupo Volcanic Zone. This hike is a hidden gem that has minimal foot traffic opposed to the classics such as the Tongariro Crossing but trust us, the views are equally as impressive.
As you immerse yourself in the forest, your guide will share local knowledge on the native bush and wildlife. Expect to see a rich forest filled with Fantail’s, Tui’s and more.
At the top of your climb, experience a picnic like you’ve never had before. Enjoy a delicious packed lunch with views of Mt Ruapehu, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro. As we drive back to Taupo, enjoy the sights of the National Park which was created entirely by volcanoes.
Our last stop of the day will be worth that wait. It’s time to relax those tired muscles with a visit to one of our famous thermal pools. Relax, unwind and enjoy the healing natural waters after your trek, you will have earned it.

A tour for those wishing to take in the beauty of the Tongariro National Park and Mount Ruapehu with the added experience of visiting NZ’s highest cafe.
We don’t do things by halves here in the Central North Island and the size and beauty of the mountains are an example of that.
There are 3 mighty mountains located in the national park; Tongariro, Ngauruhoe, and Ruapehu. These great peaks are home to the largest ski fields in New Zealand and our country’s newest and most active volcano. It’s also home to “Mount Doom” from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
What better way to take it all in than a beautiful scenic drive through the National Park to the base of Mt Ruapehu. Take a chairlift ride up over the remarkable terrain to 2020m above sea level to Knoll’s Ridge Cafe. The views from the top are spectacular. From Knoll’s Ridge, the scale of Mt Ruapehu makes you feel small in comparison. It really must be seen to be believed.
After an incredible day discovering what the mountains have to offer you can sit back and relax as we travel back to Taupo.

This tour is a great option for those who want a taste of New Zealand’s native scenery and walks at a relaxed pace.
Your day begins with a scenic drive around the west side of Lake Taupo showcasing beautiful views of the mountains in the distance.
Our first walk is a lesser known lake of the area; Lake Rotopounamu. Formed after a landslide 10,000 years ago, this secluded haven is home to some of our most beautiful native trees. Giant rimu, miro, matai and more, with trunks up to 2 metres in diameter. Crane your neck and look up to discover the different wildlife living above.
We then travel to one of New Zealand’s national icons and hidden gems. This wetland surrounded by forest can only be described as ‘magical’, but we will leave the rest a surprise to be discovered.
On the journey home enjoy the views from the Eastern side of Lake Taupo.
