Wanaka River Journeys is a half day wilderness jet boating adventure on the Matukituki River beneath spectacular views of Mount Aspiring and her Glaciers.
This is more than just a jet boat ride our ‘Jetboat and Wilderness Walk tour’ will take you on an exciting wilderness adventure amongst the spectacular scenery of Mount Aspiring National Park, past towering mountains, glaciers, stunning waterfalls and Lord of the Rings film locations. Be thrilled by the jet boats’ 360 degrees spin on the shallow braided Matukituki River with speeds of up to 80kmh and with peaceful stops in deep pools which will give you time to appreciate the environment and take some amazing photos.
Once we are deep in the wilderness of the New Zealand mountains we will leave the jet boat for a 50 minute walk giving you the opportunity to appreciate nature like never before.
Follow mountain streams and walk through ancient beech forests a great taste of real New Zealand wilderness and an opportunity to enjoy the company of your local guide as he shares stories of the natural forces that have created this unique landscape that featured in the Lord of The Rings trilogy.
For those who want an even MORE exciting experience and an up-close look at the Glaciers, there is an optional helicopter flight from the jet boat and high altitude snow landing overlooking Mount Aspiring. which will give you an up close and personal look at the glaciers.
