Our modern fleet of vessel’s are specifically designed for whale watching, with comfortable interior seating for passengers whilst travelling and spacious outside viewing decks which offer great viewing of the whales and lots of photo opportunities.

Whale watching tours are approx two hours on the water, with each trip being a unique experience and sightings of whales and dolphins can vary on each trip, our giant sperm whales are always the star attraction and are present all year round. On this tour you may also see New Zealand Fur Seals, pods of Dusky Dolphins, Wandering Albatross and depending on the season several other species of whale may be seen as they pass by our coastline on their migratory route. These include Humpback Whales, Pilot Whales, Blue Whales, Orca and Southern Right Whales.

Other species that visit our coastline is the world’s rarest dolphin the ‘Hector’s Dolphin’ along with seals and vast variety of pelagic birdlife including Albatross

Whale Watch  vessels are crewed by a professional friendly team of skippers and guides that have a 95% success rate of finding whales to view and are very experienced in interacting with the local Sperm Whales. They have expert knowledge of Kaikoura’s sea conditions and are fully trained in all aspects of safety. Passenger comfort and safety are always our priority.
