Both morning and afternoon cruises include time ashore at beautiful Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island, one of the Bay of Islands’ most popular island destinations.
Morning cruise passengers can choose to extend their stay at no additional cost and return later on a scheduled ferry, allowing extra time to swim, explore the walking tracks, enjoy lunch at the beachfront café, or simply relax on the beach.
Afternoon cruise passengers also enjoy the Otehei Bay stop as part of their experience but return with the cruise, as it coincides with the final ferry service of the day.

Both cruises include marine wildlife viewing, a visit to the Hole in the Rock and time ashore at Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island. Set sail from Paihia or Russell and glide through the 144 islands of the Bay of Islands, passing along the Rakaumangamanga Peninsula towards Cape Brett. As we approach, you’ll see the historic lighthouse standing guard over Piercy Island (Motukakako), famously known as the Hole in the Rock.
Māori legends say that warriors paddled through the Hole in the Rock before battle, and if water dripped on them from the cave roof, it was a sign of good luck!
