The Wranglers
Both are 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Overland models. That translates to 4WD, 4-door, leather interior comfort and convertible fun. The only production 4 door convertible available.
We have the option of installing the factory hardtop if the winter is too cold but the freedom panels can still be easily removed from the front seat roof for a bit of winter sunshine. Designed for rugged trails in the American back country we can easily and safely cope with anything that Northland can put in our way. There are two booster half seats available for our smaller trekkers.
The Mustang
A 2016 V8 GT right hand drive convertible, New Zealand new. One of the first factory right hand drive mustangs ever. Fully licenced to carry one adult sized passenger plus the driver in comfort with your own heated or cooled seat, individual climate control and choice of music playing on the stereo.
Ford Performance Racing Products Stage 2 kit with upgraded induction, exhaust and dyno tune. 385kW (306kW factory) and 620 NM (530 NM factory) that’s 515 hp and 457 ft lbs in the old measure. That gets us up to highway speed with ease. With independent rear suspension and all the modern traction and brake assists the vehicle is safe and fun that will put a smile on any closet petrol head.

Highlights include:
Follow the story of the initial signing of the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi, the founding document of New Zealand. By getting off the beaten path you will get a feel for the land and what it was like to live at that time.

The “Rebel Ride with Winery Lunch” visits Kawakawa train town, home of the famous Hundertwasser Art toilets, and takes in our fabulous countryside, historic settlements and subtropical forests surrounding the Bay of Islands in Northland, New Zealand. The price includes lunch at a premier Northland winery and up to four passengers in your group and if both of our guides are available, we can cater for groups of up to eight. Simply book two “Rebel Ride with Winery Lunch” tours and you can swap between Jeeps if you want.
On your tour we leave Paihia and stop in the seaside port of Opua before engaging the Jeep’s 4WD and traversing unsealed roads to get to the Opua Forest for a 20-minute walk. Here you can see the magnificent kauri trees and native bush along a well-formed trail. Next we trek down to the quirky town of Kawakawa where a historic railway line passes through town down the middle of State Highway 1. Kawakawa is also the home of the famous Hundertwasser toilets which were renovated in 1999-2000 by artist Fredrich Hundertwasser and the local community. It is his only southern hemisphere building and his last project before his death. Then we head through rural farmland, stopping at Henry Williams’ beautiful church in Pakaraka.
Lunch is next at an award winning Northland winery where you will be treated to a sumptuous meal, alcoholic drinks will be an extra cost. After lunch we pass volcanic landscapes and sites of ancient pa, Maori fortified villages, on our way to the famous horseshoe shaped Haruru Falls. We top off the tour with a photo stop of the Bay from the Waitangi lookout before finishing the “Rebel Ride with Winery Lunch” back in Paihia.

The “Kauri Caper with winery lunch” visits two of Northland’s sub-tropical rain-forests allowing you to experience the massive kauri trees. Explore the Bay’s surrounds while being driven through our fabulous countryside, farmland and historic settlements. The price includes up to four passengers in your group and if both of our guides are available, we can cater for groups of up to eight. Simply book two “Kauri Caper with winery lunch” tours and you can swap between Jeeps if you want.

If the weather is good the entire trip can be made with the roof open and the wind in your hair as there are no unsealed roads on the safari, unless you want them..

Explore the Whangaroa harbour and Kerikeri Basin while being driven through our fabulous countryside, farmland and historic settlements surrounding the Bay of Islands in Northland, New Zealand. The price includes up to four passengers in your group and if both of our guides are available, we can cater for groups of up to eight. Simply book two “Great Gallop” tours and you can swap between Jeeps if you want.
On your tour we leave Paihia for the historic Te Waimate Mission, the location of the second signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. Next we pass volcanic landscapes and sites of ancient Maori pa, fortified villages, and engage 4WD to travel up unsealed roads through working farmland. We then reach the Puketi Forest for a 15-minute stroll along an easy boardwalk through a grove of huge kauri trees. We then continue on to the historic town of Kaeo for a well deserved stop at a quirky cafe where you can purchase lunch.
Continuing up to the scenic Whangaroa harbour and travelling along the exposed east coast and sandy beaches gets you some amazing photo opportunities before we head to Rainbow Falls and Kerikeri. Kororipo, the location of an early trading post, the oldest building in New Zealand and the famous Stone Store, a fitting last stop before finishing the “Great Gallop” back in Paihia.
