This remarkable journey takes you from high elevation down to sea level, offering a blend of history, stunning natural scenery, and fascinating landmarks along the way.
This Grade 1-3 ride follows historic Maori routes, taking you through an ancient rail tunnel, across Lake Omapere, and past Okaihau. You’ll pass through farmland, forests, and rivers, immersing yourself in the beauty of New Zealand’s diverse landscapes. The trail ends in Horeke, home to New Zealand’s oldest hotel and the Mangungu Mission House, one of the country’s earliest European settlements.

Starting from Kaikohe, this 14 km ride is a perfect taster of the Twin Coast Cycle Trail and offers the option to complete it in either direction. You’ll enjoy a leisurely ride through a historic rail route, taking in the stunning natural scenery and unique history of the area. Once you’ve finished the ride, we’ll pick you up and shuttle you back to Kaikohe.
The Twin Coast Cycle Trail is ideal for a pleasant and enjoyable day out for people of all ages and abilities. Top Trails can provide bicycle tours, transfers, personalised itineraries, shuttle buses, and activities for groups of up to 30 riders.
