Northland is the birthplace of New Zealand. We visit iconic sites critical to early New Zealand history including the Award Winning Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where Te Tiriti O Waitangi, New Zealand’s founding document, was signed. Our Cook to Kupe bicycle tour honours Captain James Cook who charted New Zealand, and Kupe, the legendary Polynesian explorer, who made first New Zealand landfall on the Hokianga Harbour shores. Northland is fortunate to have a dense M?ori population and there are many opportunities to learn about and experience local M?ori culture. Be captivated by the stories on your guided tour tracing the footsteps of explorers and our ancestors. The Cook to Kupe bicycle tour reaches capacity quickly in high season – but the beauty of Northland is you can cycle all year round and the slightly milder climate in winter makes perfect pedalling. Book now for the Northland biking experience that will keep you coming back time and again. It really is unbeatable.
We deliberately keep our tours small, limiting them to 10 people. Our transport is a luxurious 14-seater minibus. Click here for full itinerary.
We create personalised walking and bicycle tours with our expert local knowledge and experienced tour leaders. Cycle the Twin Coast Cycle Trail with a hike out to one of the beautiful islands in the Bay of Islands for the opportunity to see the marked difference in scenery on each coast. One with wild, raw beauty and the other softer with its secrets in small bushy nooks or sandy crescent beaches. They’re both beautiful and the Twin Coast Cycle Trail is an ideal way to take them in.
Minimum 2 nights in a style of your choice – Northland has a wonderful array of accommodation options from beachfront hotels, world famous lodges, great bed and breakfasts, quirky backpackers and iconic taverns. You will have a tour leader and small luxury minibus with you. You can cherry-pick the best bits of our tours or we can create something totally different.
As well as hiking and biking remember the huge range of other activities Northland has to offer from fishing, golfing, diving, parasailing, sailing, arts and crafts. Our bespoke tours are run throughout the year and we make them a truly personal and memorable experience. It is also possible, given the small numbers, to put these tours together at fairly short notice if needed.
