Each tour has a maximum of 10 passengers. The tour starts and finishes at the Paihia I-site, pickup time is 12.30 pm. The ticket price includes the cost of wine/beer tasting along with a platter style late lunch.
Visit Ake Ake vineyard, a family-run boutique operation set just outside Kerikeri, and sample their organically-grown wines, which include Chambourcin, Pinot Gris, Syrah, Chardonnay, Tempranillo and Sauvignon Blanc. Tour the vineyard and see how the grapes are grown before tasting six samples of their range.
From Ake Ake we move onto Marsden Estate, which was started by the McIvor family some 20 years ago. Here customers can enjoy wine tastings and a lunch platter in the relaxed atmosphere of its courtyard dining space which overlooks the lake and vines.
Our next stop is the award winning Makana Chocolate Factory, here you can watch delicious chocolates, truffles, caramels and toffees being made by hand. Taste samples of their wares, all made from high-quality ingredients in small batches, and of course shop for gifts – or just indulge yourself!
Next door is the highly acclaimed Kauri Workshop, which offers a wide range of bowls, platters and other products made from swamp kauri.
Our final stop is The Plough & Feather Tap Room which is host to as many as twenty locally brewed ales and lagers from their sister company, Kainui Brew Co. (as well as the odd guest tap). Kainui Brew Co was founded in 2015 in the heart of Kerikeri and has quickly risen to prominence in New Zealand, winning numerous Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in some of New Zealand’s most acclaimed competitions (NZ Brewer’s Guild Awards, New World Awards).
Kainui Brew Co specializes in classic styles as well as barrel fermented artisan ales, and there is always something on tap to satisfy any preference.
Located in the Kerikeri Domain, this stop offers customers the opportunity to also visit the Stone Store & Kemp House, New Zealand’s oldest surviving stone and wooden buildings.
