Your afternoon starts with a comfortable shuttle pickup from your Queenstown accommodation. Pickup times begin around 11:20 am and vary slightly depending on location — you’ll receive confirmation in advance. Winter tour times may differ slightly.

Trail Start at Kawarau Bridge:
Begin your ride at the iconic Kawarau Bridge, home to the world’s first commercial bungy jump. From here, you’ll follow a well-maintained section of the Queenstown Trail through vineyards, riverside landscapes, and cellar doors.

Pre-Ride Briefing & Setup:
At the trailhead, Whizzy’s friendly team will get you set up with your e-bike and run through a short 10-minute safety briefing. You’ll learn how to get the best out of your bike, ride safely on the trail, and stay in contact if needed.

Start your day without hassle : Convenient pickup from your accommodation. Our pickups begin at 9:20am in the Queenstown area. Depending on your location, your pickup time will be communicated to you before our team sets off. In Winter (June – September) pickup times will be starting at 10am.

 

Comfortable transport to the start of the trail: Your full day adventure begins with a comfortable ride to the charming gold mining settlement of Arrowtown. Here you’ll be given a safety briefing and introduced to your bike for the day. You can also take time before you leave to explore the town and maybe grab a coffee and pie at the famous Arrowtown Bakery.

Safety first : Once we’ve arrived we’ll get the bikes ready for you and take you through a 10 minute safety briefing that includes how to get the best out of your bike, how to stay safe on the trails and what you need to do to stay in touch.

Adventure awaits : You’ll be out on the trail at approximately 10:30am and free to explore as much or as little as you want.

Before the vino…Leaving Arrowtown & the ride to Gibbston. Your riding starts in Arrowtown on the gentle flow of the Arrow River Bridges trail. There’s approximitely 60-70 minutes riding before you get to the Gibbston trail and nowhere to stop for refreshments. Make sure you grab some breakfast or a coffee in Arrowtown before you leave, especially if you’re still in bed mode!

4. Where do the tours start and finish?
Most tours begin with hotel pickup and transport to the trail start, such as Arrowtown or Kawarau Bridge. Return shuttles are provided for supported tours. Flexi-Ride hires start from your preferred location with delivery and pickup included.

5. What should I bring on the ride?
Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Bring sunscreen, water, a light jacket, and a phone or camera. A small backpack is handy for snacks or personal items.

6. Can I stop for wine tastings or lunch during my ride?
Absolutely! The Gibbston Valley Wine Ride is designed for relaxed exploration. You’ll have time to stop at cellar doors and enjoy food and wine experiences at your own pace.

7. Is e-bike delivery available for Flexi-Ride hires?
Yes. Flexi-Ride includes free delivery and pickup from your accommodation or chosen starting point in the Queenstown area.

8. What happens if the weather is bad?
In case of poor weather, you’ll be offered to reschedule or receive a refund according to the operator’s cancellation policy. Helmets and jackets are provided, but it’s best to check the forecast before booking.
