Franz Jose Quad Quad Bikes are located in this stunning area and will take you on a memorable & exciting adventure on their ATV quad bikes, view the glacier and its surrounding peaks, traverse rainforests, riverbeds and grasslands as you feel the thrill of the fresh air in your face.

Join us at our ‘quad base’ for the beginning of your 2 hour adventure where you will have a short lesson on these fantastic & incredibly easy to ride vehicles, with a specially designed passenger seat enabling whole families to enjoy their experience in safety and comfort.

Our experienced guides will give you an informal commentary about the local history of the region as you cross stony, braided riverbeds and glacial fed rivers. Soak up the atmosphere as you ride through the dense, untouched rainforest viewing ferns, mosses and podocarp trees. Head out to the 10,000 year moraine left by ancient glacial pathways, the Franz Josef glacier (Ka Roimata o Hine Hukatere) plunges 2500 metres into the green canopy of the forest below framed by snow capped peaks. Listen to stories of old Maori legends, the tales of pioneers and adventurers past as you enjoy a cup of tea or hot chocolate and then if you dare…Take on the MUD!

For the ultimate experience why not combine our Quad bike experience and also see where the glacier begins and ends with an exhilarating scenic helicopter flight from Franz Josef township. You will view the spectacular glacial ice falls of BOTH the Fox and Franz Josef glaciers and experience close up where the snow accumulates to create these two magnificent phenomenoms before landing on the snow where you will have the opportunity to capture superb photos of these sensational views.
