Cruise Milford Sound – From Te Anau

All the greatest sights in Fiordland are included in our extended day journey from Te Anau to Milford Sound.

We incorporate additional hikes with your Milford Sound nature cruise.

The Day’s Itinerary:

  • Depart 7:45 am – Return approximately 5 pm
  • A fun commentary with plenty of local knowledge included
  • Travel the spectacular Milford Road – with up to 15 scenic photo stops along the way.
  • A chance to see Keas, Seals, Dolphins and the Fiordland Crested Penguin
  • We travel down the Hollyford Road and do the most spectacular short walk between here and Milford Sound. The “Marian Cascade” walk involves a continuous cascading waterfall draining from a glacier fed lake.  After the walk, we supply an afternoon tea break that includes wonderful date scones, tea, coffee, biscuits, chocolates and fruit juice
  • If the weather is not suitable for our famous picnic at the park, we go and visit the historical Gunns Camp where the log fire will be offering a warm welcome. This is the only remaining camp that was used for the building of the road to Milford Sound. There will be time to explore the museum, shop and historical cabins.
  • When time permits, we have a quick visit to the Gertrude valley where the scenery is breathtaking
  • 20 minute walk to the Chasm
  • A 1 hour 45 min nature cruise on Milford Sound on our luxury boat the “Milford Adventurer” with no more than 80 people
  • Plenty of toilet stops

Our Super Lounge coaches are small and comfortable with quality leg room, and numbers are limited to 16. We have mini-kitchens enabling tea and coffee as required. We will guarantee you the best possible day.

Smaller boats allow you to get up close and personal with our crew and the natural beauty of the Milford Sound while providing you with a personal and educational experience.

Our 5 star luxury glass-roof coach will take you to your destination in comfort and style with one of our pleasant local drivers. Extended legroom and a forward-facing camera to make your trip more enjoyable.

From Queenstown, we drive along the shores of Lake Wakatipu and through the Southland farmland to Te Anau, where we stop for a 30-minute break for coffee and refreshment. We begin our journey from Te Anau by driving down the Milford Highway, stopping at locations including Mirror Lakes, Knobs Flat, Monkey Creek, and The Chasm to take photos. Milford Adventurer and the 12:45pm cruise depart from Milford.

Your driver will meet you at the end of your cruise and take you back to Te Anau for a quick coffee and rest stop before returning you to Queenstown at 6:30 p.m. There is no hotel or bus stop along Frankton Road that we don’t stop at to pick up and drop off our customers; this includes the big Frankton bus shelter. If you’re staying somewhere other than the main location.
